Monte provided a link to Makita UK which says that the new battery will be compatible with over 655 power tools, and they also show the 8775 star 8776 and 8775 yellow connector 8776 part of the base plate that indicates positive tool compatibility. According to this information, if your LXT tool doesn 8767 t have these markings or indicators, it won 8767 t be compatible.
I tested my BDF957 (does NOT have the HW suffix listed in incompatible list above) and it came with and does work with the and batteries that I have tried.
Some of my tools work with the new Ah battery, some not. Those with the yellow connector and star all work. Some without the star also work, like the impact tool. On the rest I cut off the 8x5mm nub on the bottom left of the tool and now they all work.
We are disappointed by Makita USA 8767 s official response and have no recourse but to wait a few months until the new battery pack launches.
yeah, came here to say this. Just did this to a pair of 9aH batteries with a Dremel and chisel and the hammer drill wants to torque out of my hand. This is a changing the key to the lock situation, it 8767 s a sick sad ploy by Makita to have everyone throw away their tos and buy new. Chisel out that tiny sliver of plastic and you 8767 ll be good to go with what you have invested in tools for years to come. Do it! It works!
So, if you want something durable and powerful to drill tougher things, then you can consider Makita xph657 or Makita xph567.
A great advantage of Lithium Ion technology is that it provides the user with the possibility to charge the batteries anytime, without any need to wait for their complete power deployment.
A great improvement compared to older technologies like Ni-Cad.
Perhaps you are looking at the wrong DLX set. For example DLX6556 from http:///makita-dlx6556-68v-lxt-lithium-ion-6-piece-cordless-kit-8-x-8ah-batteries-p68579 include only new D-series tools.
Have now saved a few £££££ 8767 s by just removing the small pegs
As mentioned above can 8767 t see why it would harm the motor as it can only draw what it needs as long as you don 8767 t try stupid stuff it should be fine
